The current Joint Chief Executive, Anders Hedlund, established the principal business in 1979, manufacturing giftwrap. Joint Chief Executive Nick Fisher joined in 1980, and helped to grow the business through a combination of organic growth and an aggressive acquisition programme. Subsequent acquisitions have extended both the Group's product range and global operations into new territories including the US, the Netherlands, the Far East and Eastern Europe.

By 1995, when the company floated on AIM at 50p per share (adjusted for subsequent bonus issues), turnover had grown to £40m with profit of £2m.
