IG Greener Greetings

Our Environmental & Corporate Responsibilities
As a leading manufacturer and distributor of greetings products, stationery, gifts and accessories, we operate globally with manufacturing and trading companies in the UK, Mainland Europe, USA, China and Australia.
On a Group and at local level, we are taking all reasonable steps to make greater contributions to reducing carbon emissions, minimising waste, and with our supplier partners, raising ethical standards and employee health and safety. To underpin our commitment to these environmental and corporate responsibilities, we have introduced a number of new initiatives to be delivered through our IG Greener Greetings Project.

In some of our key operations;
> We have achieved the FSC (chain of custody) accreditation in our manufacturing plants in the UK and we are working on getting approval for our China factory by the end of 2009. These accreditations now make it possible for us to increasingly use materials from only the most sustainable sources, thereby contributing to the protection of the environment and the world's natural resources.
> ISO 14001 Environmental Management systems are approved for our UK manufacturing facilities with planned expansion to other manufacturing operations in the Group.
> Registration with Sedex for our UK and China manufacturing units, and audits against the ETI base code for these sites, help us maintain our commitment to our staff welfare.
> As part of our Climate Change Levy Agreement in UK manufacturing, we are actively reducing energy consumption in keeping with the print industry scheme.
> We are actively engaged with such partners as the Carbon Trust, Energy Saving Trust, Waste Resources Action and the Arena Network in order to step up our environmental management programmes.
> On landfill issues, we have committed to targets of up to 40% reduction for most of our business units to achieve by the end of 2010, and we are working with Envirowise on specific projects in the UK designed to deliver these objectives locally and then expand into the rest of the Group companies.
We will continue to increase awareness of our responsibilities amongst our employees and, externally, amongst our customers and other stakeholders. More importantly we will continue to work in partnership with our customers and suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint generated through our business activities.
